(Huge thank you to Alyssa Tolman for the loving work she put into the creation of this video. She’s as generous as she is talented, and for that we love her)
By way of introduction, Henry is the 8th in a family of 10 from Provo, UT (he is literally Henry the 8th). A graduate in English Literature, his passions include reading and writing. He can shop on a dime and will play tennis with anyone ready and willing. A quick wit, he will have you in stitches within seconds of meeting him. He currently works in Finance in Salt Lake City. Mackenzie is the oldest of 4 children from Spokane, Washington. She is a graduate in Recreation Management and, prior to her diagnosis, was an avid dancer from the tender age of 3. A self proclaimed “artsy fartsy” she relishes all things creative. Together they enjoy Karaoke sessions in the car, tacos whenever possible and each other, above all things.
After about a year of progressive breathing problems, Mackenzie became that one person in six million when she was diagnosed with a rare lung disease, a form of Pulmonary Hypertension: Pulmonary Veno Occlusive Disease (PVOD). Having PVOD means that Mackenzie’s lung function will steadily decrease and, without a double lung transplant, will ultimately prove fatal. Henry & Mackenzie (both 29) were married only a few short weeks when they learned of her disease.
